Supporting those facing insurmountable medical expenses.
Unforeseen medical bills can take a serious financial toll on individuals and families already struggling to make ends meet.
Whether these bills stem from a serious injury, long-term illness, emergency surgery, or another critical medical issue, our employee relief funds are designed to provide essential financial assistance during these difficult times, allowing people to place their focus where it should be – on their recovery.

DID YOU KNOW?

41% of adults have health care debt, which includes health care debt on credit cards or owed to family members.

People with medical debt report cutting spending on food, clothing, and other household items, and/or taking on additional debts, to pay medical bills.

About half of adults are vulnerable to falling into debt, saying they would be unable to pay an unexpected $500 medical bill.

Medical bills and debt can take a serious toll on mental well-being - individuals with debt are three times as likely to have a mental health problem, such as anxiety, stress, or depression.

Two-thirds of those with unpaid medical bills experience financial stress, which impacts productivity and work performance - a quarter of employees with financial stress have troubled relationships with coworkers, and more than 20% can’t finish daily tasks.

Medical debt was associated with more days of poor physical and mental health, more years of life lost, and higher mortality rates for all-cause and leading causes of death at the county level in the United States.

First-hand stories from individuals who received grants from our funds in the aftermath of unexpected medical expenses.

“First, let me express my deepest gratitude for the grant my family and I received as we navigated difficult healthcare issues. I have secondary primary multiple sclerosis (SPMS). We have been living with my illness for 9 years. MS is like being on a constant roller coaster and I was not a dependable bread winner for my family. However, my husband of 29 years has always been a wonderful provider. We had savings, 401k's, equity in our home so we felt financially secure. Then the unimaginable happened.
My husband began losing weight at a rapid pace to the point where it became obvious he was having a healthcare crisis, and boy was it a crisis. He was diagnosed with gastric cancer and was hospitalized for weeks. After returning home, he required the assistance of a home health aide. His income suddenly was a fraction of what it had been, and our nest egg was rapidly depleted until it was all gone. We needed help financially for the first time in 29 years of marriage simply to make ends meet. We were behind on our mortgage and healthcare bills were relentless. This grant was honestly a blessing that has eased some of the burden.
It has allowed us to keep our home and the peace of mind so that my husband can heal. You are all simply angels. I am a big believer in paying it forward and have made a promise to give to this relief fund once I am back on my feet. A heartfelt thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

"I applied for the grant because my wife was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and the medical bills were increasing daily. This grant has been life changing. It has taken a huge amount of stress off my wife helping her heal after surgery. This grant can benefit anyone that needs help with mounting and unexpected bills. Thank you so much from the bottom of both mine and my wife's hearts!"

"My child needed a specialized vision treatment that was not covered by traditional insurance carriers. Now, thanks to this grant, our son can get the therapy he needs for the next year to keep his eyesight from deteriorating. Left untreated, his condition could have cause blindness as he grew older which could have severely altered his way of life. As parents of young children, so much of our energy and time goes into providing a positive, well-rounded, healthy environment for them.
We applied for the grant with little hope it would be considered. The process was clear, with great communication throughout, and thankfully, we were granted financial assistance. It was a wonderful day when we found out. We are so thankful for this program."

"I had to have surgery and was going to miss several weeks of work as a result. So I applied for the grant, was approved quickly and the funds were dispersed quickly as well. My wife and I were very grateful for the support and help, it made a very stressful situation much less stressful.
It is so hard to ask for help. But this process was smooth and private, and I was extremely grateful for the opportunity and for the fact that my employer has something like this available to us. It is worth it's weight in gold for helping with financial stress. I am so very grateful to every single person that helped make this possible for my wife and I. Many tears were shed, and we will pay it forward when we are able."
