DISASTER RELIEFTestimonials from grant recipients impacted by disasters around the world.
There was an ice storm in Oklahoma that caused our home to lose power, in addition to thousands of others. The only shelter I could find that could accommodate my son and pet was a nearby hotel. We were hoping that it would only be a couple of nights, but the outage lasted for 11 days, which became very costly. This grant helped with the hotel cost, allowing me to still make my mortgage payments during our displacement.
The damages sustained to my home during the hurricane created a truly stressful situation - and As COVID-19 basically paralyzed the normality of everyday life, having 8 children at home under shelter at home mandates already had its challenges. This grant saved me from having to choose between fixing my home or providing my kids with essentials.
After being displaced from my home for 3 weeks due to damages from Hurricane Laura, the funds helped tremendously with recouping unexpected out of pocket expenses which were a burden on my financial cash flow. Thanks so much for making this grant available. It will really help especially as slow as my insurance carrier has been with completing the claim process which I am still dealing with more than two months after the storm.
In Texas, the severe winter storm left my family and I without water or lights for four and half days. Our pipes wound up bursting and caused major damage in my home, water flooding our entire apartment. About 4 hours later, after we left to stay with family for the night, another pipe burst and flooded everything again. This grant will help tremendously with recovering things that were ruined in the floods and help to replace food that was lost due to the electricity being out. When unexpected situations arise, and your insurance or finances are not enough, this type of grant really helps.
We recently experienced a disaster from Typhoon Ulysses, which caused severe flooding and damage to our area and our home. The financial aftermath of this caught me off guard. It would have taken me months or years to repair the damage and replace these essentials for my family. With this grant, I can provide for my family immediately. It made a huge difference in covering many of our unexpected expenses. Thank you EAF!
I applied to offset financial strain from Hurricane Laura, due to having to care for two adults with disabilities. I would advise my friends to reach out and use the Fund because the process is smooth, simple, and free of judgement. You are able to maintain your peace of mind knowing that there's someone to help you in times of need. As someone who has donated to Funds like these in the past, it is truly humbling to see the real impact it has on those in need.
PERSONAL HARDSHIPSTestimonials from grant recipients struggling through hardships.
My situation before receiving the grant was not the best. I had just saved up enough to rent a small place after living in my car for some time. However, I got sick as soon as I moved in, so I was out of work at the start of the month. This grant prevented me from losing my home.
As the result of a critical health crisis, I’d used all of my sick leave and paid time off credits, and I was still unable to return to work. This grant helped with my more immediate needs and some of my medical bills, it assuaged some of my anxieties. I felt like I could exhale and focus on returning to work and my recovery.
When your spouse passes away, it is never easy. We had a funeral policy but it did not pay for everything and this grant helped in covering the remaining expenses. I will always be grateful for everything my company did for my family during the worst nightmare of my life.
I had to leave an abusive relationship quickly, and therefore I used what little money I had saved for hotels and shelter. Now that I've received this grant, I will be able to purchase school supplies and clothes for my children. I will also be able to put a deposit down on a house so we can leave the women’s shelter we are currently living in. It will be nice to have normalcy and get a routine back in our life. I am so grateful for this grant and would encourage others in a similar situation to apply. There is no shame in asking for help when needed.
COVID-19 PANDEMICStories of grant recipients impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic has been very hard on my family, as it has been for many. I have been blessed to be able to keep working through this trying time but my husband unfortunately lost his employment. We were facing a housing crisis and possible eviction so I applied for the grant hoping this could help. When I saw the grant was approved and was able to stay on top of housing payments, I cried. This has been such a blessing.
My fiancé had to close his private practice due to Covid. There was a several month delay in the unemployment process and we were being evicted from our home due to a property sale and having to relocate during that time. I have a child at home so this was very challenging times to have our income cut by more than half. This was a one time financial benefit but it came at a time that we desperately needed it. It did make all the difference in paying our essential bills and grocery expenses at that time. Community support has been a saving grace in these difficult times. You have made a difference!
I'm a single parent, and my daughter lives with me along with her 3 year old daughter, who has a compromised immune system. When COVID broke out, my daughter had to quit her job to stay home to care for the baby, as It was too dangerous to keep her in daycare. Since March, I've been supporting all three of us solely on my paycheck alone which has been difficult & money has been tight. This grant provided some relief since I've depleted my savings in order to stay current with bills and other expenses. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This grant means more to my family than you will ever realize.
My father unfortunately passed away due to complications from COVID-19 in late December. To say it was a challenging time for my family and I is an understatement. My dad's colleagues reached out in many ways to offer their condolences and support, including reaching out to me to let me know about this grant program, which offers assistance with funeral & memorial home expenses following an employee's death. I am very grateful this was brought to my attention, and for his company's support of my family throughout this process. It is very clear they really loved and valued my dad. My dad's death was certainly unexpected. This grant helped lift the burden of final expenses related to his passing. I am hopeful that others don't find themselves in a similar situation with losing a loved one, but if it happens, I'd want others to know that it's definitely worth it to apply for the grant for financial assistance during difficult times.
APPLICATION PROCESSTestimonials about our dynamic application process.
Never be too proud to ask for financial assistance. This process was easy, and although the grant may not cover all expenses, just knowing that some monetary assistance may be available was a big stress reliever. Like most things in life, until someone needs to utilize an assistance program, people often don’t think about them. Just knowing that there are people out there, giving to this fund without second thoughts, is very heart-warming. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated, YOU are appreciated!
The process was very easy. I felt so stressed out, overwhelmed & frustrated about not having enough PTO/sick time and how I was going to pay my bills. I feel like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I am extremely grateful for this! As a healthcare worker, we are constantly being exposed to Covid-19 especially now that we have an influx of transient/seasonal patients here in FL, and it is very scary to not be able to work and stress about how your bills are going to get paid. Thank you so very much! A burden has been lifted off my shoulders!
It is awesome to work for an employer that truly wants to help employees during difficult times. Please, if you are struggling, at least check to see if your circumstances qualify. It will only help lift some of the stress you deal with when a tragedy hits your family. I am so appreciative of the assistance I have received.
