Disaster & hardship relief.

It only takes one disaster to cause severe devastation. A relief fund can lift some of the financial burden for impacted employees.

DID YOU KNOW?

Disasters are on the rise across the world.

Weather disasters have become 5 times as common due to climate change - altogether responsible for 2 million deaths and $3.6 trillion in losses over the past 50 years, according to the World Meteorological Organization.

How our relief funds work.

We’ve perfected the art of establishing and maintaining a successful relief fund. As an efficient third-party administrator, we independently manage all fund activities – including accepting donations, objectively reviewing grant applications, and awarding and distributing grants – while also maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.

Fund
design.

We'll help you configure the fund to meet your company's needs, with a unique fund name, specific eligible events and expenses, and a defined charitable class (those who can apply for a grant).
Group 187

Build donations.

Grow the relief fund through both corporate and individual contributions. Tax-deductible* donations can be made through a variety of methods -- credit/debit cards, payroll deduction, unused PTO and more.
Group 189

Award grants.

Eligible individuals complete a dynamic application, with compassionate human assistance as needed. Our experts perform an objective review before awarding and processing tax-free* grants through our trusted payment partners.

Measure
impact.

A relief fund advisor helps you maximize fund success, and our fund diagnostics dashboard provides important metrics to keep you informed and empower you to make strategic decisions.

* Donations and grants are tax-advantaged for those subject to United States IRS regulations; tax laws in other countries will vary.

Isha, Grant Recipient:
"As a result of a catastrophic flood, we lost most of our possessions, and our home and cars were damaged. I used this grant to pay for a month of housing while our home was being repaired. Without the fund, we would be going into debt. We are truly grateful for all who have donated. With the expenses we will encounter while rebuilding our home, this was an incredible relief."

Andrew, Grant Recipient:
"Hurricane Ian made landfall in my home town of Fort Myers, Florida and caused extensive damage. My home was flooded with 2 feet of storm surge, totaling both of my vehicles and destroyed nearly all of our personal property. This grant helped offset the cost of my flood insurance deductible, allowing me to start the process of water mitigation and getting my home certified mold free."

Immediate assistance for qualified disasters.

Supplemental to a fund's standard grant program, our unique, low-cost Immediate Response Programs award small grants quickly and efficiently in times of large-scale disasters.

“Launching an Immediate Response Program with Emergency Assistance Foundation broadened employee assistance eligibility and provided a new way to show all of our employees that we care. This step eliminated doubts, demonstrating that the company will support employees during challenging times, regardless of title or salary. This notion is demonstrative of our company culture and has helped reinforce NRG as a
place where people are proud to work.”

“You never know when hardship is going to strike. You don’t know where it’s going to strike or who it may impact. We’ve learned that no one is immune to it, so we can all benefit from having a little bit of assistance to get us through rough times.”
