Measurable relief.

Together with our Fund Partners, we worked to ensure financial assistance reached those in need.

A truly global response.

Emergency Assistance Foundation followed the COVID-19 pandemic as it spread - making our first grants for the event in Wuhan, China - and were able to scale rapidly as needed.

Record levels of giving.

Galvanized by the coronavirus pandemic, charitable giving in the United States reached a record $471 billion in 2020 - demonstrating that individuals have a strong desire to give back and donate, even during difficult or economically uncertain times.

The Giving USA report says Americans gave more to charity last year than in 2019, despite an economic downturn that disrupted the paychecks of millions. Faced with greater needs, estates and foundations also opened up their pocketbooks at increased levels—resulting in a 5.1% spike in total giving from the $448 billion recorded for 2019, or a 3.8% jump when adjusted for inflation.

In their own words.

Below are some first-hand stories from individuals who received grants in the aftermath of the global pandemic.

“My entire family was affected by the pandemic. I was completely overwhelmed mentally, physically, and financially. On top of everything, I lost my father due to Covid complications. I was finding it very difficult to manage everything and that’s when this program was introduced to me by my employer.

At first, I felt hesitant to apply for this grant, as it is difficult for me to ask for help. However, with the entire burden of my family’s wellbeing falling on my shoulders, I knew I needed to at least take the first step and apply.

Trust me, it was worth it – the grant has made a huge difference in my life and has eased some of my financial pressures. Thank you to everyone who has played a part and donated to this fund.”

-Paula, Grant Recipient

“My father unfortunately passed away due to complications from COVID-19. To say it was a challenging time for my family and I is an understatement. I am very grateful for this fund, and for my dad’s company’s support to my family throughout this process. It is very clear they really loved and valued my dad.

My dad’s death was certainly unexpected. This grant helped lift the burden of final expenses related to his passing. I am hopeful that others don’t find themselves in a similar situation with losing a loved one, but if it happens, I’d want others to know that it’s definitely worth it to apply for the grant for financial assistance during difficult times.”

-Tasha, Grant Recipient

"This grant was a blessing, I was able to help myself come somewhat out of a hole. I believe this grant can help families and at least give a boost to getting back on track, due to loss of income or just any form of loss during this pandemic. This is new to us all and to have help like this, is amazing. Truly thankful and I think that if you need it you should apply as well and help if not just yourself, your family.

I am so thankful and moments like this are a lesson to some. To be specific for me, I would like when my time comes to help others as much as you all have helped me. No one has to donate, but the fact that someone cares enough to do so, truly warmed my heart and helped me. Thank you."
